How did the church burn?

The Alma newspaper indicated that the fire began in the belfry, that apparently a spark from the chimney ignited a bird’s nest in the bell tower, causing the fire.

I believe my ancestors, Henry Alysious Streckfus and Theresa Schott were married at this church in 1889 by Rev Father Koenhover
